The Canting or Canthing

According to the manufacturing process, the technique of batik can be divided into written batik, batik printing, and batik stamp.

The tools were required:

Canting - was a tool for painting batik. Usually made of copper that resembles a bird's beak tip

The Gawangan

Gawangan - was the place to put the fabric to be painted as batik. Gawangan can be made of wood or bamboo

Pan - a small skillet to melt the wax. These pans can be made of copper or clay

Anglo / small stove - was used to heat the pan

Malam -batik wax is made from a mixture of
different types of materials that form gondorukem, fat, coconut oil, and paraffin

Dyes - also called Wedel or tom in Java

Batik-making processed:

Prepare the fabric, make a pattern on fabric using a pencil

Once the motif is complete, draped fabric on gawangan

Turn on the stove / anglo. Put the wax into the skillet and heat skillet over low heat until the wax melts perfectly. Let the fire still smoldering

Begin by taking a little liquid batik wax using a canting, brass-wind instrument that is not too hot for a while, then scratched canting by following the existing pattern. Be careful not to drip molten wax on the surface of the fabric as it will affect the results of motif

After all the motif enclosed candles, the next process is the coloring process

Prepare the dye in a bucket, then dip the cloth into the dye solution with a brush, repeat several times.

The next stage is the process of batik wax removal by scaling and shed the wax by boiling the fabric (melorod)

The last stage of the process of making batik is the process of washing and drying.
